ART DOES NOT REPRODUCE WHAT WE SEE; IT MAKES US SEE ~ klee
Glenna has over 20 years’ experience working with children and fostering their creative education. This has challenged her continuous pursuit of personal artistic knowledge and ability. In recent years she is mostly drawn to acrylic painting and photography. She is inspired by nature, history of urban and rural environments, and cultural experiences. Her international backpacking trips as well as her backwoods kayaking adventures inform her artistic endeavors equally.
Glenna has displayed works in numerous group shows since 2014 through Tara Davis Studio Boutique, Cre8ery Gallery and Studio, Gwen Fox Gallery, City of Selkirk Civic Chambers and Ponemah Beach Central Arts Center (PBC) where she presides as the artist in residence. She had her first solo exhibit
of landscape paintings in Manitoba Summer Inspirations 2015. Her Doodle Dayz ink works have been on show this spring in The Exchange, and the intricate hand drawn pieces continue to develop as they capture the attention of tattoo fanatics.
Glenna is currently working with Manitoba educators offering several creative workshops related to art appreciation, use of art for stress management and mindfulness, and skill development related to the elements of art. Glenna will be holding 2 professional development workshops for educators hosted by MAME at SAGE 2017.
She continues to instruct teen classes and private adult lessons out of her studios. She has recently become involved as an instructor at The FORUM Art Institute in the south end of Winnipeg. Glenna is presently painting two other collections inspired by her love for history and anthropology, based on the textures of old European urban centers, vibrant with life, sound and colour. She continues developing photo essays inspired by the patterns and colours of a recent trip to France and Portugal, while also studying the roots of theology.
She is very excited to be a part of COLLECTIVE VOICES: UNraveled~ a group show at Cre8ery in April 2017. Also watch for a huge selection of workshops and her RED HOUSE ART SALES in May and December! HOME
